Death by Turkey

| | Comments (1)
I have never partaken of deep-fried turkey, much less witnessed the actual frying process. My mother, the retired Home Economist, was always deathly afraid of the bacterial potential of such a preparation, not to mention the chance for physical mishap.

Art of Warcraft

I managed to get into the World of Warcraft open beta before it filled up, and played for a while last night. I haven't been that excited over most fantasy MMORPGs before now, but the Warcraft setting seems to have a lot more personality, and a more distinctive graphical style, than most of the generic fantasy games out there. I still don't know whether I'm going to join the final game when it comes out, or just renew my activity in City of Heroes or Puzzle Pirates.
One of the things I'm going to have to work on if I'm going to try to make a political difference in the future is finding the courage to call people on bullshit. For example, I should have enough backbone to tell relatives when the stories they tell about supposed liberal outrages sound fishy. I don't know if my cousin was blaming it on John Edwards specifically, but she was spreading the claim that lawsuits were the reason flu vaccine was so scarce this year. I'm sure she meant well...
I went to see The Incredibles this afternoon. When I left, my face hurt from grinning so hard for so long. I'm sure there must be something wrong with it, and that I should figure out what it is before I do any kind of longer review.

P.S. I guess I could point out a couple of tall-buildings-in-a-single-bound leaps of logic if I wanted, and a few of the major plot twists were telegraphed from a mile off. However, a day after seeing it for the first time, I still can't come up with enough reasons not to describe The Incredibles as the greatest superhero movie made to date.

Deep Purple

I'd like all the bozos yammering about how Blue America needs to secede from Red America to take a look at the Purple Haze view of America. Take a couple of deep breaths, too.

P.S. Here's a good academic paper on the red/blue myth as well. [via mysticalforest]

I voted.

After xkot suggested something similar on LiveJournal, I created a Flickr group for people who've voted to post their pictures.
