Roman Rumble

|

Yes, yes, I know it's been quiet hereabouts. As January (and a work project I've been dinking with forever) comes to an end, I hope to get back into the swing of things before too much longer.

In the meantime, if you have any taste for disaster porn, the Discovery Channel is showing a movie, Pompeii: The Last Day, on Sunday night. Naturally, it's about the eruption of Vesuvius in the first century AD, and the resulting destruction of the Roman city of Pompeii. I think I'll pass on PPV wrestling that night, after all...

Last Christmas, I received Robert Harris's novel Pompeii, a historical thriller set in the midst of said destruction; it was fascinating reading, and really gave me a feel of being there. Copies of the book circulated among the O'Keefe clan, and I think all of us who read the book enjoyed it. I can only hope that this documentary will be as involving.

Mac Envy

Yes, the new Mac mini looks cool. I will note, however, that to do anything important will require a memory expansion. Just sayin'.

Schadenfreude.

|
It's a German word which means to take joy from the misfortunes of another.

They'll let anybody in here.

I'm watching the Alias premiere on TiVo with about 50 minutes' delay. So I'm just now getting to the point of yelling "Evil Mo*****er!" at the screen.
